Set-up guides, what you can say, and fixes for common problems.

Quick start

Sign in with Google and accept the four permissions.
In Profile settings, add your Gmail address and an App Password, then select Test Gmail login.
Choose an AI provider, paste your API key and select Test AI connection.
On the Assistant page, press Turn on and allow the microphone.

Create a Gmail App Password

Turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google account, if it isn't on already.
Open Google App Passwords and sign in again if asked.
Under "App name", type Voice Mail Assistant and select Create.
Copy the 16-character password. Google shows it only once.
Paste it into the App Password field in Profile settings and save.

Work or school accounts may have App Passwords turned off by an administrator.

Get an AI API key

The key is optional. Without one, the assistant reads the opening of each email and sends your reply as you dictated it.

What you can say

"Yes" or "no" when it offers to read your mail or send a reply.
"Reply", "mark it as read" or "skip" after each email.
"Repeat" to hear an email again.
"Change it" after hearing a draft, to dictate the reply again.
"Check my mail" while it's watching your inbox.
"Turn off" or "goodbye" at any time.

Plan and billing

Your first 30 days are free. After that the plan is $5 a month, charged through Razorpay. Cancel from the Payment page: a trial ends at its original date, and a paid plan runs to the end of the month already paid for.

Troubleshooting

The Turn on button is greyed out

Connect a Gmail account in Profile settings, and check on the Payment page that your trial or plan is active.

"The microphone is blocked"

Select the lock or microphone icon in the address bar, allow the microphone for this site and turn the assistant on again.

"Gmail rejected the address or App Password"

Create a new App Password and save it again. Changing your Google password revokes old App Passwords.

It doesn't hear me

Wait for the pill to say Listening before you speak, and check the right microphone is selected in your browser settings.

I can't hear it

Check the tab isn't muted and your system volume is up. Some browsers need one click on the page before they'll play sound.

It stopped after a while

The tab must stay open while the assistant is on. Browsers may pause tabs in the background or when the computer sleeps.
